GOV. RITTER DECLARES SEPTEMBER WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT MONTH
In recognition of the more than three million men and women who are employed in
and the 174,654 businesses and organizations that employ them, Gov. Colorado Bill Ritter has declared September as Workforce Development Month.
‘s network of Workforce Centers (state- and county-run employment offices) will be teaming with the Department of Labor and Employment and the Colorado Workforce Development Council to provide a variety of special events for workers and employers statewide.
Some of the workshops and seminars that will be offered are directed specifically to employers, helping them maintain a competitive advantage and prepare for the future. Other events, such as local job fairs, are designed to help workers become more skilled at creating and capturing career opportunities. A full calendar of local events taking place across the state is online at www.coworkforce.com/wd.
“Our economic base is strong and we are well-positioned to grow and stay competitive in the market – but only if
companies and the state’s workforce are well-prepared,” Gov. Ritter said. “The events and activities that Workforce Centers are offering throughout the month will focus the state on preparing a modern labor force for the 21st century. Workforce Development Month is a reinvestment in our state and in the education, employment and economic growth that will keep us strong.”
